Website copy writing has changed dramatically and you need to keep up with what works and what doesn’t or you will fall badly behind. For example in days gone by people used to fool the search engines with white text written on a white background. In fact, a car manufacturer once cleverly created a picture of its latest model that was actually made up of millions of keywords. Since search engine spiders only see text this car giant appeared on the top of almost every single search result!
Those days are now long gone and sites, articles and pages are now actually penalised for overuse of keywords. If you use a keyword too often the Google algorithms will mistake them for other common words such as “and, but, it”. These it regards as stop words and strips them out of the text during its analysis. That means that if you overuse your keywords Google actually removes them all.
The buzz word today in website copy writing for search engine optimisation is relevancy which is actually very good news for the rest of us. Now as along as we concentrate on creating good high quality website copy and content for our website that is relevant to our topic then not only will our human visitors love it but so will the search engines!
