If you’re going to write successfully then you need to spend some time getting to know your audience. This is vital as writing for the right people is one of the four key elements of all good writing (for all four see The Launch Workshop Power Copy Writing Module).
If you don’t write knowing exactly who your audience is and what they want is surprisingly common and results in copy that is ignored. If you want your writing to be read then you need to know your audience and write for them. Those last few words are vital. You should write for your audience not feel that they are fans of your work and you should never write down to them.
You need to deliver value at all times and do so before you want to be genuinely helpful. If your motives are wrong then this will be immediately obvious in everything you do. Instead your advice needs to be offered freely, as in this course, and help the reader.
The content must be accurate, well researched and relevant and your reader will love it and come back for more and more.
In part 3, we’ll concentrate on knowing what to write about.
